  • Day 1 - Chiang Mai Arrival

    Day 2 - Boat along the Mae Ping river -drive to the famous mountain temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep

    Breakfast at your hotel and then travel to a local farmhouse in Mae Rim before boarding a long-tail boat for a 30-minute cruise to a fresh food market along the Mae Ping River. From the market, take a trishaw ride past the City Walls to Wat Phra Singh for lunch at a local restaurant and then drive to the famous mountain temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. Afterwards, drive up the mountain by "songtaew" on a rough dirt road to the Chang Khien Coffee Research Project and continue to the Hmong village of Chang Khien where inhabitants still wear traditional hill tribe clothes and practice a culture that dates back 500 years.     Day 3 - Visit to village of Mae Kampong - Relax with a traditional Thai massage

    Depart to the village of Mae Kampong, situated 1,300 meters above sea level, making a stop at a local market to select ingredients for evening's dinner along the way.     Day 4 - Transfer to Chiang Rai and Wat Rong Khun

Choeng Ek Killing Fields & Tuol Sleng Museum

While modern Cambodia has completely emerged from its “Khmer Rouge” shadow, the actual word itself still conjures up all kinds of undesirable images. But rather than dwelling on negativity, this one-day tour gives you a good balance of Cambodia’s past and present by combining a visit to the killing fields at Choeung Ek and Tuol Sleng Museum with a tour of the bustling Russian Market.

  • Day 1 - Killing Fields - Tuol Sleng Museum & Choeng Ek

    Drive to the killing fields of Choeung Ek (16 km south of Phnom Penh). Between 1975 and 1978 about 17.000 men, women, children and infants (including nine westerners) detained and tortured at S-21 prison were transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek. They were often bludgeoned to death to avoid wasting precious bullets. Fragments of human bone and bits of cloth are scattered around the disinterred pits. Over 8000 skulls, arranged by sex and age, are visible behind the clear glass panels of the Memorial Stupa, which was erected in 1988.
    Return to Phnom Penh. Visit the Notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975, Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot's security forces and turned into a prison which is known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It soon became the largest center of detention and torture in the country. More than 17.000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeung Ek to be executed; detainees who died during torture were buried in mass graves in the prison ground. The museum displays including room after room of these photographs of men, women and children covering the walls from floor to ceiling; virtually all the people pictured were later killed.
    Visit the Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong), a lively outdoor market where you will find antiquities, silver and gold jewelry, gems, silk, kramas, stone and wood carvings, as well as T-Shirts, CDs and other souvenirs.

  • Day 1 - Hanoi – Mai Chau – Hang Kia Village

    Pick you up at your hotel at 8 am and leave Hanoi for Mai Chau- the beautiful gate way to the mountainous area of northern Vietnam. On the way, we will have a short stop for refreshment.

    Mai Chau nestles in the mountainous regions of northern Vietnam, south west of Hanoi in Hoa Binh Province. The valley of Mai Chau is inhabited by a community of one of Vietnam’s 52 minority groups, the White Thai while the upper lands of Mai Chau are inhabited by the H’mong minority group.

    Upon arrival in Mai Chau, we will pick you up at our local guide and continue driving to Xa Linh Village where we will have our lunch in a H’mong house before setting off on a beautiful trekking in the afternoon. From here, we will not use our car until the last day. After lunch, we will begin our trek on the village’s road and then walk on dirt path used by the locals. After 40mins, we will reach Tra Day Village-  home to a small community of Black H’mong minority people. From the Tra Day village, we have two options for trekking route to reach Hang Kia where we will stay overnight. The easier route with rocky path runs through another H’mong village. The harder route takes more time to do with trail uphill through jungle and dirt path though terraces. We will reach Hang Kia around 5pm. Hang Kia is a small and scenic valley, which is home to a group of Flower H’mong minority people. Tonight, we will stay overnight with a H’mong family. While our local guide cooks dinner, we can take shower or stroll around the village. Dinner around 7.30 pm. Before going to bed, we will treat our feet with herbal foot massage which you do by yourself with ATV guide’s instruction.

    Day 2 - Trekking from Hang Kia to Van Village

    After breakfast in the house, we will say goodbye to the family and begin an exciting trekking day. Right after the village, we will walk on jungle trail for one hour. The trail could be a bit wet due to the dense trees that keep sunlight away. After that, we descend the hill passing farm and terraces. The scenery is stunning with mountains, terraces and expansive valley. During the trek, we will some breaks for snack, rest, and photographing. After crossing a small river, we reach a village of White Thai minority group where we have lunch in a local house. After lunch, you may wish to have a short nap in the house. In the remainder of the day, we will walk on village road to reach Van Village- a beautiful village of White Thai minority people. The road runs zigzag along the valley and through lots of scenic village. As you walking through these villages, the locals may try to invite to come to their house and have dinner with them. Tonight, we will have dinner and stay overnight in a Thai family. We will eat and sleep on the bamboo floor as it is the traditional way. Again, our local guide will cook dinner for us while we taking shower or having a pre-dinner drink. At the meal time, the host will welcome us with home made whisky. Before going to bed, we look after our feet with herbal foot massage.

    Day 3 - Trekking from Van Village to Buoc Village

    After breakfast, we say goodbye to the family and begin 3-hr trek in the morning to reach Buoc Village. The path will runs uphill and down hill through bamboo forest, terraces and farms. On the trek, we may see farmers working on their farms. Around 12 pm, we will reach Buoc Village- another scenic village of White Thai minority people. We will have lunch in local house and take a short nap if you wish. In the afternoon, we will enjoy 2-hr leisure trek around the village. If the weather permits,we could enjoy the cool water of the stream nearby the homestay at the end of the day.
    Again, dinner will be cooked by our local guide. Foot massage before bedding time.

    Day 4 - Trekking to Van Mai – Transfer to Hanoi

    After breakfast, we say goodbye to the family and enjoy the last trekking along mountain foot to reach Van Mai, where we will meet our car and driver for a short transfer to Pom Coong Village for lunch in a local house.     Start to visit Mengkabong Village - a village built on water, is 45 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu. You can see the thatched roof houses built on stilts and connected by narrow, wooden planks, rising out of the river are a remarkable sight to be hold. Set amidst mangrove forests, this Bajau Village gives visitors a very good insight into the lifestyle of a fishing village. Have morning coffee with a Bajau family and explore the village. Stay overnight at hotel.

    Day 3 - Poring Hot Spring - Kinabalu Park

    Depart early morning for a 3 hours drive to Poring Hot Spring, calling in at villages where native crafts can be purchased. Explore the many jungle trails and observe wildlife from the canopy walkway 100 feet above the forest floor. Proceed to Kinabalu Park after lunch. There, you will view a slide presentation and visit the mountain garden to explore the unique and endemic plant life found in Kinabalu Park. Return to hotel in the late afternoon.

    Day 4 - Kota Kinabalu - Sadanka

    After breakfast, we will transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport and fly out to Sandakan. Upon arrival in Sandakan, we will proceed overland to Gomantong Caves (1/2 hours). Then, spend the morning exploring the caves before continuing to Sukau (1 hr) for lunch. In the afternoon, go on a river cruise in search of proboscis monkeys, birds and other wildlife.

    Day 5 - Sukau - Sepilok Orang Utan - Sandanka

    Depart from Sukau and transfer overland to the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary in time for the feeding of the Orang Utans and see a video presentation on the Orang Utan's rehabilitation programm. Return to Sandakan for lunch and a city tour.

    Day 6 - Sandakan - Miri - Mulu

    After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu (suggested flight: MH2043 etd 0820/0905hrs) then, connect to Miri (on MH2865 etd 1050/1145hrs) and on to Mulu in the afternoon. A short flight from Miri takes one deep into the heart of Gunung Mulu National Park. About 5 million years ago, the uplifting and folding of the ancient sea floor created impressive limestone mountains. The erosive forces of nature have created an eerie array of pinnacles rising above the forest floor and an extensive system of caverns. Wildlife viewing is fascinating with eight species of hornbills, hundreds species of butterflies and the wonderful early evening spectacle of a twisting black cloud of bats leaving the cave entrance. The vegetation is as impressive as the caves and wildlife. The flora includes over 1,500 species of flowering plants, including 170 species of orchids and ten species of pitcher plants. Upon arrival in Mulu, transfer to Royal Mulu Resort for checking in.

    Day 7 - Wind Cave - Clearwater Cave

    Following breakfast, proceed upriver by longboat to Wind Cave with its impressive "King's Chamber". Here, stalactites and stalagmites with delicate lace-like patterns are found. A short walk along a plank walk suspended to the limestone cliff leads to Clearwater Cave. Like most caves in Mulu, Clearwater Cave is the habitat of unique species of plants. One of them, the one-leafed plant can only be found at Mulu, rare species of orchids and pitcher plants can be seen in many locations and photo-sensitive algae grows on certain rocks and have produced needle like formations that point towards the source of lights. Clearwater Cave has a wonderful swimming area shaded by giant rainforest trees. Have a picnic lunch around the clear pool of water emanating from the so named Clearwater Cave.

    Day 8 - Mulu - Kuching

    Have breakfast at the resort. Then, transfer to the airport for the flight to Kuching via Miri. Upon arrival in Kuching, transfer to hotel for checking in.

    Day 9 - Bako National Park

    Place Transport: Car->Boat
    Meals: Breakfast - Lunch
    Take a 35 minutes drive to Bako Village. From the village, take a 25 minutes boat ride to the park. Have the time in the park, touch to nature. Return to Kuching in the late afternoon.

    Day 10 - Kuching - Semenggoh Orangutans - Batang Ai Resort

    Meals: Breakfast - Lunch
    After breakfast, board coaches for Semenggoh. Located a short drive from the centre of Kuching, Semenggoh provides a unique opportunity for visitors to observe Orang Utans, sun bears, hornbills, gibbon monkeys, the elusive pangolin and other animals from the local forests. The baby orang utans roam wild and return each morning and afternoon to specially designed feeding stations. Serian, about 45 minutes from Semenggoh, typical of many rural Sarawak towns is picturesque and compact. Along the high street are the Chinese variety shops and the upriver agents with agricultural produce of local pepper and cocoa. Along the journey, there will be intermittent stops to visit a pepper garden and to view spectacular flora - rare orchids and 4 species of the carnivorous pitcher plant in an area of 10 square metres. Lunch will be served at a local coffee shop en route. Upon arrival at the Batang Ai reservoir, proceed by boat to a Resort. The evening is at your leisure.

    Day 11 - Day trip to Iban longhouses

    Breakfast at the resort. Then, we proceed upriver to one of the culturally active Iban longhouses in the region. The half hour journey is done on long boats with an Iban boatmen. These river-worthy boats handcrafted by the Ibans are ideal vehicles for taking us into an Iban village where life has changed little in the last hundred years. Spend some time to discover the terrain with your guide and lunch will be provided. Return to the Resort in the late afternoon. This evening is at your leisure.

    Day 12 - Kuching city

    After breakfast, depart for the jetty to cross the lake by boat (1/2 hour). Overland to Kuching, discover the charms of this riverine city established by Sir James Brooke- the first White Rajah of Sarawak. See buildings dating back to the days of the White Rajahs, ancient Chinese temples and colorful markets displaying the produce that first brought traders to Borneo. A visit to Kuching will not be complete without making a stop at the Sarawak Museum. Completed in 1891, the museum has an excellent collection of Bornean ethnological and archaeological artifacts and is reputed to be the best in South East Asia. Have lunch at a local restaurant.

    Day 13 - Kuching Departure
