  On arrival in the Laos capital of Vientiane, you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Vientiane is a charming and fascinating capital with an interesting mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and American influences. After a short rest, we start visiting the major sights of the capital including Wat Sisaket- the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Enroute to Lao’s national icon, the precious and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument which is known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. The Mekong river side is the perfect place to end the day and admire the sunset. Stay overnight in Vientiane.

  Day 2 - Vientiane - Vang Vieng on road

  We leave the capital early for our journey northbound. We will see some breathtaking scenery enroute as we pass through spectacular countryside towards the mountainous region. Along the way, we visit the busy and colorful market of Thalat where various hill tribes come to trade goods and buy provisions. A next stop of our trip is Vang Xang which is famous for the archeological site dating back 11th century. We reach our final destination Vang Vieng which nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. Its stunning scenery with limestone outcrops remains unspoiled despite recent developments with the advent of tourism. After checking into your hotel, you are at your own leisure. Stay overnight in Vang Vieng.

  Day 3 - Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang on road

  Heading 2km out of Vang Vieng town, we explore the famous caves of Tham Jang which was once used by the local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We also cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai- a very pleasant village to explore the different lifestyles of the locals. Upon leaving Vang Vieng, the roads begin to deteriorate; however the stunning mountain scenery makes an interesting journey. We wind our way through the mountains to Luang Prabang. This town with its gleaming temple roofs, fading colonial architecture and stunning mountain backdrop has been claimed by UNESCO to be the best preserved traditional city in South East Asia . There is little traffic on Luang Prabang roads and monks in orange robes scurry in all directions carrying umbrellas to shade themselves from the sun. Stay overnight in Luang Prabang.

  Day 4 - Luang Prabang – City Tour

  The former Royal Palace has been turned into a National Museum (closed Tuesdays). This interesting structure displays a collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. Today, we also have enough time to explore some other landmarks including the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the shrine of Wat Aham, the city's oldest temple of Wat Sene and Wat Mai with its five tiered roofs. A visit to Luang Prabang would be incomplete without ascending the 329 steps to the top of Phousi Hill for a beautiful sunset view of the city and its glowing reflection on the Mekong River. Stay overnight in Luang Prabang.

  Day 5 - Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves - Weaving village

  Today, we continue our city tour, seeing the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong which nestles at the meeting of the Mekong and the Nam Khan River. The temple structures are decorated in various ways with gilded stuccoes and doorways. The back wall has an intriguing large flame 'tree of life’ pattern set in colored glass mosiacs. We then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River which also gives us a taste of the tranquil countryside and an interesting visit to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, we stop at Ban Xang Hai where the local rice wine is produced. On our return, we drive to the famous weaving village of Ban Phanom where shoppers have a chance to try their hand at bargaining. Stay overnight in Luang Prabang.

  Day 6 - Luang Prabang Departure

The tour caps off with a boat tour along the Tonle Sap Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake with its size varying greatly depending on the season.   Start your day with a tour to the Cambodian countryside on which you will discover the 'gem' of the Angkor Baneat Srey. On the way, you will have the option to stop at local communities and your guide will help you to interact with the locals to learn about the way of life here.
  Continue north to Kbal Spean which is one of the earliest Hindu pilgrimage sites in Cambodia. A short 3 km trek up the hill through dense jungle will reward you with excellent views over the plains and the Kulen hills. During the rainy season, you can enjoy a refreshing bath in the waterfall, before having a picnic!
  From here, it is only a short drive to Wat Roun which is a traditional village in Cambodia. Here, in a clean and safe place on the premises of a picturesque temple, you will find your home for the night: A tented camp and you don't even have to cut back on amenities as our large tents are made to feel you at home away from home. A short trek will lead you up to the Phnom Bok Hill. In the evening, a local BBQ dinner will be prepared by your private chef at the camp andyou can enjoy in comfortable and stylish sitting areas. After dinner, a movie of our choice will be shown in the camp.

  Day 2 - Wat Roun - Siem Reap

  Get up early as you will be invited to witness the monks at Wat Roun. They will perform their morning rituals and you can later meet them personally. A private blessing ceremony will wish you good luck on your journey.
  In the mid-morning, continue going to Beng Mealea, .Undiscovered for centuries, Beng Mealea has only recently been made accessible and remains unrestored. It is one of the very few temples that actually gives the opportunity to climb through it.
  Continue going to Kampong Kleang. (NOTE: Due to low water levels during the dry season, the boat trip is only possible from June to February, but we can arrange an overland visit to Kampong Kleang that is an equally interesting experience, as you can walk among the stilted houses).
  Transfer back to Siem Reap.

  Today, grab your bike and cycle south of Luang Prabang approximately 20km to Ban Thin Som. Here, begin a trek through local farms to visit a Kamu village. After lunch, hike up the mountains where you can see spectacular surrounding views. At Ban Long Lao, enjoy observing everyday life and culture around the village. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Hmong dance and then have dinner and stay overnight at the head man’s house.

  Day 2 - Ban Long Lao – Trek to Kuang Si Waterfall - Luang Prabang

  Breakfast will be served at the headman’s house then you have some time to explore around the village. Begin the trek through a valley which has a forest preserve. Hike approximately 3 hours to Kuang Si waterfall, the falls cascade over many calcified tiers and down several hundred feet into a series of cool, turquoise pools. The water here has a clear blue-green tint due to the high mineral content. Enjoy swimming if you want. After lunch in front of the falls, continue down to visit the bear rescue center. In the late afternoon, drive back to Luang Prabang.

In the late afternoon, you will climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred and gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River. In the evening, you will go around the city's Night Market which offers handmade textiles woven by local people and ethnic minority communities.

  Day 2 - Luang Prabang – Seuang River

  In the morning, drive to the Seuang River Experience which is approximately two hours north of Luang Prabang. Enjoy a tour of the village and learn about local lifestyles. Later on, you may want to visit one of the local homes for a fun cooking class. Your hosts will first provide an overview of the menu with a description of the ingredients. At the end of the class, you will enjoy the meal that you have prepared. Tonight, you will stay in a local family’s house.

  Day 3 - Seuang River Nature Trek - Bamboo Rafting

  In the morning, we will join with villagers on a walk through community forest areas to learn of their importance. As you walk, you will collect seeds of threatened trees that need to protect and replant. When you arrive back to the village, we will prepare the seeds that you collected for germination at the community tree nursery.  These seedlings will be planted by villagers in the next rainy season. Embark on an adventure down the river on a bamboo raft passing waterfalls and towering mountains as you go. In the evening, spend some time assisting local school teachers at the community education center. 

  Day 4 - Seuang River – Pak Ou Caves – Cruise to Luang Prabang

  In the morning, you will say goodbye to your hosts and mark the occasion with a traditional Baci blessing ceremony. Depart from the village and drive to Pak Ou where you will begin a cruise.   Day 5 - Luang Prabang Depature

  Cruise the Mekong River to visit the famous and sacred Pak Ou Caves. Since the 16th century, the local people have brought images of the Buddha to place in the caves—by now there are thousands.   Day 3 - Luang Prabang - Kuang Si Waterfall

  If you wish, get an early start and participate in the traditional Lao rite of giving alms to the monks. Every morning, some 300 monks file through the city silently collecting offerings. After breakfast, drive to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall. The falls cascade over many calcified tiers and down several hundred feet into a series of cool, turquoise pools. You can cool off with a swim before returning to Luang Prabang. Enjoy a local lunch before returning to the hotel for an evening at your leisure.

  Day 4 - Luang Prabang – Xiang Khoang

  An eight-hour drive to the mountainous plateau of Xiang Khoang is a great way to see more of rural Laos. There are plenty of stops along the way to stretch your legs and take photos of the spectacular views.

  Drive three hours to Vientiane.   After a very early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Pakse. Your first adventure here is an easy four-hour hike up to the Bolaven Plateau. This hike goes through a local village, coffee plantations, over a hanging bridge, and on to the plains. Huge boulders, pine trees, epiphytes and wild orchids abound. Return to the hotel for late lunch. The afternoon is free for you to explore Pakse.

  Day 10 - Pakse - Wat Phou - Elephant Camp – 4000 Islands

  Drive south to the famous Khmer Temple complex of Wat Phou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site represents the easternmost border of the Khmer empire. Continue on to an Elephant Camp to see how handlers (“mahouts”) train these giant and friendly beasts. Ride one of the friendly pachyderms to the top of Phou Asa to see mysterious ruins there. After lunch, you’ll continue going to 4000 Islands by car and boat.

  Day 11 - 4000 Islands - Khone Phapeng & Li Phi Falls

  The section of the Mekong River that runs through southern Laos boasts thousands of tiny islands. This morning, you’ll cruise through this tropical paradise to the largest waterfalls in Asia, Khone Phapeng and Li Phi Falls. If you’re lucky, you might see some of the 50-100 Irrawaddy (freshwater) dolphins that make 4000 lakes their home. Spend the afternoon to relax or explore an island on your own.

  Day 12 - 4000 Islands – Pakse Depature

  Drive about three hours from Vientiane to the lovely town of Vang Vieng. You have time in the afternoon to explore this quaint and peaceful town. Stay overnight in Vang Vieng.

  Day 2 - Vang Vieng

  Begin your kayaking adventure north of town on the Nam Song River. Enjoy the tranquil landscape before stopping at a couple of caves along the way. Both caves partially submerged, so you can explore them by swimming. Paddling the last leg brings you to your riverside bungalow with time to rest and enjoy the sunset. Stay overnight in Vang Vieng.

  Day 3 - Vang Vieng – Vientiane
