Smith died in 1926 and the mansion was never finished. Next to the mansion is a Hindu temple, built in memory of the 70 artisans who were brought in from Madras to work on the mansion when a mysterious illness decimated the workforce. Make a right turn after the mansion to continue your journey and drive straight on the main road towards Ipoh.
