Traditional Village in Hanoi

Regarded as the cradle of Vietnam’s culture, the Red River delta is best known for its handicraft villages and traditional seasonal festivals. In this city tour, we offer you the unique opportunity to observe and experience the real rural life of Vietnamese peasants living in those handicraft villages.You can choose from two options provided as listed in the itinerary. Each tour option will lead you to specific Hanoi attractions which are not only the beauty spots, but also reflects the culture of Vietnamese.

Highlights: • Bat Trang – buy or make ceramic products (lots of lovely things to choose) or make a product by yourselves.• Van Phuc – Get some silk products as gift for your family and friends.• Dong Ho – Get some paper made by handmade with the traditional way and paint them with traditional designs. • Dong Ky - See how to made furniture inlaid with mother of pearl and finished off with layer of clear lacquer.

  • Day 1 - Ha Noi City - Traditional Village

    Option 1: Bat Trang – an old pottery village, Van Phuc – a silk village.

    • Bat Trang: Our guide will pick you up at Hanoi Old Quarter and transfer you to the riverside village of Bat Trang where distinctive ceramics are made and used throughout the delta region for over 500 years. The vitality of this village is still blown up by the hundreds of pottery kilns on fire day and night. We stroll around various cottage industries and watch craftsmen forming, painting and glazing their products in traditional ways.
    • Van Phuc: A silk village- a great place of silk cloth through producing on the loom .There is a showroom where you can buy silk by the meter which is much more exciting than buying it in the shops! Tour ends at your hotel.

    Option 2: Dong Ho - a painting village, Dong Ky – a making furniture inlaid village.

    • In Dong Ho Village, they make Giay do paper and paint them with traditional designs. The paper is handmade and some are still in the traditional way with all natural products.
    • Your trip will continue with a pagoda, But Thap and a carpentry village, Dong Ky. In Dong Ky, they made furniture inlaid with mother of pearl and finished off with layer of clear lacquer. Laying the mother of pearl is highly labor intensive. You’ll see how it is delicately sawed into fine fish-bone sliver and paints takingly set into wood. Tour ends at your hotel.

All unaccompanied drivers will be briefed in advance, and will carry a mobile phone to ensure smooth transfer arrangements)
