Camping in Cambodia has become possible after the Khmer Rouge has integrated all their forces into government forces in 1998. Then demining projects have been implemented around Cambodia for rural development and operning new places for tourists. In early 2000, Beng Mealea temple has been demined. As a result, it was choosen to shoot the in the movie starred by Indiana Jones later on. Back in 2001 when our team did the research for a possible camping tour at Koh Ker. It took us 2 days to go from Siem Reap to Koh Ker by a pick up truck for just about 100km. Our truck had to go through the mud in the jungle; we had to push our truck and it hardly moved. For just 1Km, it took 1 hour for the truck to get through. Now thing has completely changed. Three years, later Koh Ker temple have also been demined and a road has been built to access this pre-Angkorian temple complex. Camping tour at Koh Ker is one of an amazing camping tour introduced in our Cambodia Adventure Tours. Through our updated research it is now possible to do the camping and trekking to Koh Ker with a good combination of Phnom Kulen and Beng Mealea followed our suggested itinerary and adventure guide.
